All in a Day

Old wives' tales have it that you can't praise your baby in front of it, otherwise it'll be bad e.g. if you say she's cute, she would become not cute, if you say the baby is healthy, the baby will become unhealthy. Bunch of crap right? So defiantly, I was telling my mother-in-law that Alyssa has became a good girl and hardly stay awake nowadays with Alyssa around. My mother-in-law immediately put a finger to her lips, signaling to me that I shouldn't be saying such a thing in front of the baby, to which I dismiss as 'no such thing so don't worry'.

I should be choking on my words because precisely the night I made such a statement, Alyssa became a monster. However, it was my fault, not Alyssa's (so peeps, don't believe in that crap!) She had been sleeping soundly since 9pm so on seeing that, I thought she would take a while to wake up and decided to pump out my milk so as to encourage milk production. I was really elated that I managed to get a small Avent bottle full of milk because that means an increase in milk production. I have been trying to increase my milk supply because I barely managed to pump out enough milk for Alyssa the previous times (most only 2.5 oz of milk each pump) and I was worried she may not have enough milk when she goes to infant care. The increase in milk supply was almost 50%! I must have totally emptied my boobs of milk because there was little milk when she woke up slightly more than 1.5 hours later to feed. Then all hell broke loose. Because she wasn't satisfied with the amount of milk she got, she refused to go to bed and wanted to suck more. Even giving her milk from the bottle didn't help because she simply refused it and even spat out the milk and wet her shirt. I had to play with her and read to her and only after a while then she readily drank the milk from the bottle and went back to sleep. By then it was already 5am in the morning. My mother-in-law would have said 'I told you so' if she learnt of that.

Trust me, playing with a baby that doesn't really respond to you is a very tiring job. I was half dead when I woke up to bathe her. By the time I had my brunch, I was ready scramble back to bed but I had to accompany Desmond to West Mall for his lunch (by the way, he says the Cheesy Melts from KFC sucks). To compensate for the lousy lunch and satisfy his cheese cravings (as if he's pregnant) for that day, we had a cheese cake from Coffee Bean & Tea after that.

Cheese power must not be underestimated. I actually had the energy to wash and polish my little car after that. I was so proud of my little car. It looks new and nice again. I should have taken the 'before and after' pictures of my car. Special thanks to Desmond who continued to help with washing and polishing of the car even though I was nagging at him non-stop to do a better job, and also to TFG who actually just dropped by to collect my adidas bag for TWK but stayed on and helped a bit.

I was nearly dead after the car wash but we went to Desmond's grandma's (grandma = mother-in-law's mum) place for dinner. (By the way, Alyssa pooped again! Prayers had been answered!) Apparently, her signature dish is salted fish head curry. It's said that only their family prepares this dish. I must say it's really unique and delicious. But it's a little too rich for me so I couldn't have too much of it. Tua yi was also at grandma's place. Luckily she was too engrossed in playing mahjong and didn't bother us much.

I was really beat after the entire day's of activity and never had I been so glad to see my bed again. Thank God Alyssa went back to being an angel again last night.
